Rock Creamy Mami

Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel is one of the most beloved and iconic Japanese television series of the 80s, directed by Osamu Kobayashi and produced by Studio Pierrot, one of the leading houses in the Japanese animation scene. The story features Yu Morisawa, a young girl whose life changes radically after receiving a mysterious medallion from a little friendly alien. This medallion has the power to transform her into a teenager, a transformation that will mark the beginning of her career as one of the most famous pop singers in Japan, known by the name of Creamy Mami. The charm of this series is not limited only to its plot, but also has its roots in a unique aesthetic and a setting that mixes fantasy and reality, conquering generations of fans.

A shining example of how this popularity continues to live on over time is this beautiful representation drawn by Anna Carrino, a new interpretation of Creamy in rock version. This extraordinary drawing has been made available in print on a variety of products, such as clothing and accessories, on the Red Bubble website. The originality and freshness of the design immediately captured attention, as it masterfully blends the spirit of the series with a contemporary and modern touch, while keeping the essence of the original characters intact. The representation of Creamy, with her rock look, is particularly fascinating, as it perfectly captures the energetic charge and grace of the protagonist.

The image you see below is a completely reworked version of Anna Carrino’s illustration. In this new version, we wanted to enrich the drawing with many additional details, using a style a little closer to photorealism thanks to the use of shadows, lights and textures.
